What is the Celebration of Light?
The Celebration of Light is Notre Dame’s largest fundraiser which brings together students, faculty and Chicago business leaders.

What is the Leading Light Award?
Keeping with the mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and their foundress St. Julie Billiart the Leading Light Award is presented to an honoree for his or her exemplary contributions
to the Chicago Community.

Who was St. Julie and who are the Sisters of Notre Dame?
Julie Billiart founded the Sisters of Notre Dame to respond to the poorest and most abandoned people in the world. She began living her mission in 1806 when she opened a school for poor children. Today the Sisters of Notre Dame are still recognized as outstanding educators who have taught children and adults on five continents. Notre Dame High School for Girls is proud to carry on the tradition of educating young women regardless of race, religion or socio-economic status.
