Not My Prince Charming

A knight in shining armor
Appeared to me in a dream long ago
But at the time he was an evil villain
We battled for what we felt was right
Not knowing that our hearts grew closer with every fight.
That villain became my Prince Charming
We were happy for a while
But even with our strong love
The past untwined.
Small arguments turned us around
And began a fight to the death
Each battle filled our eyes with tears
Because we still loved each other dearly
Not realizing our suicide
We continued with our war.
What happened to our happily ever after?
Why didn't our love last?
Were we too much the same?
Or was our love to prove out hate?
The battle was close to an end
So I surrendered
I loved the warrior in him
But we were not meant to be
It took so long to see
He's just not my Prince Charming.
