History
In 1938, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur of
the Ohio Province were called to Chicago to open and staff an all girls'
school
serving the daughters of immigrants from Europe.
Their goal was to continue the educational tradition established by
St. Julie
Billiart
St. Julie stressed the importance of educating young women for life,
grounding their academic training in a belief that
God is good and
motivating them to make a positive contribution to society.
Today, we continue to serve many daughters of
immigrants but they come from different parts of the world. While the
Sisters of Notre Dame give financial support to the school, they no
longer comprise the majority of our staff. In fact, only one Sister
of Notre Dame is involved and working in the school. Today, a dedicated
lay faculty works in conjunction with an energized local Board of Directors
to ensure that the "Notre Dame Experience"is as rigorous,
relevant and fun as it can possibly be.
